Central Elementary is an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) school. The IB PYP uses student interest to study topics that are of importance in the world in which we live.
At an IB World School, students build on previous knowledge, develop an understanding of their world, take action, and reflect on their learning. At each grade level students learn about the 6 Transdisciplinary Themes, what we want to learn, focusing on different concepts within each theme from pre-school to 5th grade.

Each unit is referred to as a Unit of Inquiry (UOI). All of the units from pre-school to 5th grade together are referred to as the Programme of Inquiry (POI).
