Hello! My name is Kerri Burks, and I’m proud to teach 5th grade at Central Elementary School. I grew up in the Mojave Desert and have called California, Nevada, North Carolina, and Colorado home. I’m excited to be part of your child’s educational journey here at Central!

I hold a B.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, an M.A. in Education, and an Elementary Montessori teaching certificate. Over the years, I’ve worked as a Child Life Specialist, Developmental Specialist, and, for the past decade, an upper elementary teacher. I’ve created STEM-based and community garden programs to spark curiosity, inspire learning, and promote well-being. As a Horticultural Therapist and Colorado Master Gardener, I’m passionate about using creative resources to enrich education and build community.

In my classroom, I aim to create a caring and supportive space where students are actively engaged in meaningful, hands-on learning. Outside of school, I enjoy gardening, hiking, baking, spending time with my family in the mountains or at the beach. I’m always happy to connect, so please feel free to reach out anytime!
