Hi! My name is Marisa Ramel and I'm the new media tech/librarian at Central. Previously, I was the librarian at Indian Peaks Elementary. I'm also the author of the award-winning memoir, The Goodbye Diaries, and a forthcoming children's book, Landing in a New Pond.

I hold a B.S. in journalism from Syracuse University, and started out as an editor at Seventeen and Prevention magazines. The daughter of two public school teachers, I was inspired to pivot to education, and I became a professor and career advisor at Syracuse University's Newhouse NYC program. I moved from New York to Colorado with my husband and two children in 2020, and my 1st and 4th grader will start at Central this year, too.

I'm passionate about instilling a love of reading at an early age and inspiring kids to be lifelong readers. In the words of my 104-year-old great aunt (who's still reading!): "If you love to read, you'll never be lonely. Every book is your friend."
