Hello! My name is Rebecca Vogel-Pitts. I am beginning my 18th year in Primary Education. I have been at Central for 16 of those years teaching preschool, kinder, 2nd and now 3rd grade. I am also a founding teacher at Black Rock Elementary in Erie, where I taught kindergarten for 2 years. I have a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies with an emphasis in Child Development from Colorado State University, an M.S. in Early Childhood Education with an emphasis in Special Education from CU Denver, and my teaching licensure from Metro State in Denver.
In my spare time I love to explore the world with my favorite person and partner, Scott. I am a huge music fan and concert goer. I love to explore interior design and architecture, to travel, get lost in art museums, read, and watch a variety of film genres. I also enjoy being outdoors, and enjoy hiking, paddle boarding, gardening, snow shoeing, and star gazing as well. I have two children, Kiera and Jackson. My daughter is an artist living in Berlin, Germany. I now have an even better excuse to travel internationally. My son is an aspiring television and film writer living in Los Angeles. My husband Kevin passed away unexpectedly in 2016. He was an incredible, giving person. Through his loss the Central community helped me to install a Buddy Bench on the Central campus. This special bench has built many friendships in the last few years, and it makes my heart happy to see our amazing students working together to create new friendships and build community in such a way. Central Elementary isn’t only a school; it’s a community of incredible educators, learners and families who truly care about one another. I am so lucky to be a part of it.
