The start of a new academic year is one of my favorite times to visit our schools and talk with our students, families, teachers and staff. Our hallways are filled with a palpable optimism and drive to continue our momentum toward the highest levels of academic growth and success.
Parents~ Please watch for the first Friday Folder to come home this week with your Central student! This first folder contains VERY IMPORTANT forms that are required by the SVVSD each year. The health and emergency form, permissions, library check out, code of conduct, materials fee, and solar eclipse forms must all be completed and returned to school as quickly as possible!
Please be aware that the necessary form for the Solar Eclipse that you received an email about will be included in every child's first day folder at Central! You do not need to log-in to the Infinite Campus portal unless you have already set up your account. We are aware that the students that are new to Central this year will not be set up at this time. Those new families will receive the log-on information at the first parent-teacher conferences of the year.
The Central office has re-opened for the 2017-18 school year. Jim, Jodi and Jenny are all available from 7:45-3:45 daily. "Crayons-To-Calculators" Free Backpacks are available for pick up during those hours. Families who ordered School Supplies through our PTO will be able to pick those up starting Wednesday AFTERNOON, August 9, during hours the office is open.
Backpacks for preschool through 5th graders are available now at Central! Stop by between 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. for your child's start on the back-to-school supplies! NOTE: If you ordered a school supply packet from our PTO, those will be ready for pick up starting Thursday, August 10!
As St. Vrain Valley Schools continues to advance our programs that support our youngest learners, we are proud to announce a new partnership with the LENA Research Foundation and the OUR Center in Longmont that will prepare infants and toddlers (0-3 years) for school by encouraging parents to talk and engage more with their children.
Students who will be age 3 by October 1, 2017 are eligible for SVVSD Preschool Programs. Central Elementary will have preschool classes offered. Applications will be available starting January 2, 2017 in the office. Registrations will not begin until February.
Twenty-one students participated in the National Geography Bee preliminary competition at Central on Monday, December 5. It was a stringent competition right down to the final answer...the three finalists were Willa Conlin, Luke Riddle and Dacen Wach. At the final question, Dacen was named the winner! Congratulations to all the participants, especially Dacen Wach, who will continue on to the State competition in January
